Women represent the greatest proportion of people experiencing extreme poverty around the world and are at greater risk of violence and human rights abuses. Many women remain marginalised and unable to participate fully in their societies. Join us at the Caritas’ Women for the World Clothes Swap Fundraiser Party to help empower the world’s most marginalised women to combat poverty and injustice. All proceeds from this event will go to Caritas.
Hosted by two Eco Stylists, Nina Gbor (of Clothes Swap & Style and Eco Styles) and Ana Covarrubias (of Second Runway), this soirée is a stylish brunch time delight with refreshments, fabulous clothes and accessories. They will both be available to provide style advice. We want everyone who swaps to find pieces that genuinely spark joy, so please select your finest, best quality preloved treasures for this gathering.
Sustainable fashion is our thing. Therefore, reducing textile waste to landfill, empowering women and alleviating poverty is our purpose and mission. We would love for you to join us in this effort by purchasing a ticket or making a donation to Caritas through this link: https://www.womenfortheworld.org.au/ninaandana.
HOW THE SWAP WORKS
1. Arrive at 11:00 am to register and drop off your swap pieces.
2. Please bring 1 – 10 items of clothing and shoes to add to the swap collection pool. We can only accept a maximum of 10 pieces of clothing and shoes per guest. We can accept more than 10 items of accessories like bags, jewellery and scarves.
3. Please note that guests can only begin taking and trying on swap items after the swap is officially declared open by the hosts. This will take place after the brief welcome and introduction at the beginning.
SWAP GUIDELINES
Clothes brought to the swap MUST be clean, good quality and in good condition: not too heavily worn out, faded or too damaged. (Good quality also means something you would gift to your best friend). Please be mindful of extending respect and courtesy to other guests.
As much as possible, we’d love for guests to bring good quality items from decent mall/online brands, vintage, quality fabric, handmade, retro, etc.
Value of items: We want everyone to find good pieces so please make an effort to select and bring your best quality items. If possible, we would love to have as much handmade, natural textile, retro, vintage, designer, good mall brand, high street or ethical labels as possible.
We cannot guarantee guests will find their sizes. It depends on other guests that attend and what they bring, therefore we encourage ALL sizes to participate in the swap.
What to bring: dresses, pants, skirts, tops, shoes, bags, scarves, hats, jewellery.
What NOT to bring: swimwear, underwear, pyjamas, nightwear.
TICKETS: $20 - Here.
