Join us at our space-warming for The Social Outfit's new Marrickville studio!
We'll be welcoming you into the space and taking you on a tour of our new workroom followed by a panel discussion about the future of garment and textile production. We plan to explore how two of Sydney's slow fashion makers, The Social Outfit and Citizen Wolf, are crafting a new reality for the fashion industry through production models that are more sustainable, ethical and actively conscious.
Hear how we are shaping fashion that puts people and the environment at the forefront through the use of circular interventions, socially inclusive employment models, material preservation and changing the culture of how we value our clothing.
Guests will have the opportunity to engage with the panel in a concluding Q&A session.
Panelists:
Zoltan Csaki Founder of Citizen Wolf
Nina Gbor, Eco-Stylist
Joucelen Gabriel, Production Manager of The Social Outfit
Moderated by Amy Low, Vice Chair of The Social Outfit and Brand & Marketing Director of Piping Hot Australia
ABOUT THE SOCIAL OUTFIT
The Social Outfit is a fashion label with a difference.
We believe in an Australia where refugees and new migrants are warmly welcomed and settle well, celebrating our diversity and collective skills and strengths.
Founded in 2014, we are a registered charity operating a work-integrated social enterprise. Our mission is to support refugee women to kick start their Australian careers via our manufacturing studio and retail clothing store.. Our community engagement programs focus on sewing and textile crafts enabling participants to build on their existing skills while learning new ones, strengthening confidence and social connections in a supportive environment. As of September 2022, we have trained over 700 and employed 73 people from refugee and migrant backgrounds. For 85% of those who worked with us, The Social Outfit was their first Australian job.
